10½ ways to make the most of your Twixtmas opportunity
Seeing as it is the festive season we thought we would do something a little different this month.
Size 10½ Boots associate, Andy Green, has delivered the December Top Tips and is introducing the Twixtmas concept: - Instead of binge shopping, or binge drinking, why not do some binge thinking or binge doing to transform you and your world in some small way.
The five days of Twixtmas between the Christmas and New Year holidays - December 27th to 31st is a great opportunity for you to make your world a better place. Overcome the problem of ‘time poverty' - where people perceive they do not have enough time to do things for themselves or others or the planet.
Here are 10½ tips to transform your Twixtmas break
1. Spoil yourself
You cannot do good for other people unless you feel good about yourself. Sure there are many things you might like to improve about yourself - but what are the 5 good things you can celebrate about you?
2. Do something for a stranger
Is there a neighbour you never see - can you think of a way of helping?
3. Get in touch
OK you might send Christmas cards but what about getting in touch with someone you have grown apart from - with a quality phone call/meet/or get together?
4. What can you do for your planet?
From picking up some litter or supporting an environmental campaign? What little thing or small step can you take?
5. Give yourself a better 2011
Write down ten goals you want to achieve in the year ahead. By setting goals you can focus, prioritise - and make yourself accountable for your future prospects.
6. Indulge
Have an hour doing something for you. From reading a book or watching a TV show or film you want to watch.
7. Do a random act of kindness
It is amazing the positive reaction you get. You also feel great as a result.
8. What can you do to help a friend?
What can you really do?
9. Just cut down using a resource
When was the last time you went anywhere by bus? Try it. The buses have improved considerably in recent years. You will be pleasantly surprised, and there is no hefty car parking charge either!
10. Look to 2011
All the economic pundits point to a tough year ahead. But what can you do to ‘be magnificent' during 2011? Are you going to be mediocre?

Some extra details:
Twixtmas is a time when most people are time rich. If just .1% of the UK population did five good things this would create 250,000 acts of goodness.
The not-for-profit campaign web site www.twixtmas offers practical advice and inspiration to encourage everyone to make the most of this under-used opportunity.
The site also provides a free facility for sending a Twixtmas e greeting card, and you can also download a Twixtmas pledge form.
Day 1 is about spoiling yourself and thinking more positively about you. What about reflecting on your past successes, and be proud of yourself
Day 2 is do something for someone else, ideally a stranger - help a neighbour or good cause. Is there a pro bono campaign you could devise and make happen in the New Year?
Day 3 is help a friend - is there a former colleague, client or contact you can re-establish your connection with?
Day 4 is doing something for the planet - think about different ways you could reduce your environmental impact in how you work in 2011.
Day 5 is about doing something for your future. What are your 10 goals for 2011 - what are you going to do, and what new things are you going to tackle? The world will be different in 2011 are you going to be the same?
The campaign is ideal to engage with people individually to do something, or for voluntary, charity or community groups who can either do something new or re-do an existing activity during Twixtmas.

I have an ever growing number of marketing consultants beating a path to my door but what I've found in Courtney Borthwick of Size 10½ Boots is a deep understanding of the fundamentals of legal BD and an uncanny ability to provide insightful advice and add value, every time.
Nick Symington, Business Development Director, Langleys Solicitors
Our experience with Size 10½ Boots has been a breath of fresh air and, speaking as someone who would have laughed heartily at the idea of BD training for barristers 3 years ago, I am a convert and looking forward to what we can achieve with our new found direction and approach.
Scott Baldwin, Head Clerk, St Mary's Chambers
Bernard provides refreshingly down-to-earth advice. He was great at demystifying and humanising a series of marketing concepts and giving us practical action plans we could each take away from our training session. The training was lively, productive and fun.
