So what were the 30 songs we put forward for the #30daysongchallenge ?
24 Dec 2018
Over December we had a bash at the #30daysongchallenge.
Basically the challenge is to answer every criteria they throw at you from day 1 to day 30 with a different song and we sent our suggestions out via Twitter every morning at 9.05.
First off a big thanks to everyone who commented and got involved but for those who missed it we thought listing them all out in their entirety might be a bit of fun for Christmas Eve … and not because we think we’re the harbingers of good taste or anything but just because it might raise a few smiles as you count down to your well-earned holiday.
So, here we go:
Day 1 was a song with a colour in the title so we chose The Style Council’s ‘Have you ever had it blue?’
Day 2 is a song with a number in the title so we’ve gone with Nine Below Zero’s ‘Eleven plus eleven’
Day 3 is a song that reminds you of summer so has to be Althea & Donna’s ‘Uptown top ranking’
Day 4 is a song that reminds us of someone we’d rather forget so (especially after the other Saturday)... Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur!
Day 5: a song you have to play LOUD! Easy .... AC/DC and ‘Back in black’
Day 6 is a song you’ve got to dance to so get your talc out and enjoy Frankie Beverley & The Butlers ‘If that’s what you wanted’
Day7 is a song to drove to so we went with a family car favourite Young MC’s ‘Know How’
Day 8 is a song about drugs or alcohol - ignoring the obvious oasis choice we’ve gone with Dr Feelgood’s ‘Milk and alcohol’
Day 9: a song that makes you happy and that’s The Charlatans’ ‘Jesus Hairdo’
Day 10 is a song that makes me sad so went with Frank Sinatra’s ‘One for my baby (and one more for the road)’
Day 11 is a song we never grow tired of so we went with The Stone Roses’ ‘Fools gold’
Day 12 is a song from our pre-teen years so we went with The Jam and ‘When you’re young’
Day 13 is a song we love from the 70s and that’s The Damned and ‘Neat neat neat’
Day 14 is a song we’d like played at your weddings … sorry couldn’t resist going with Snuff’s version of ‘In sickness and in health’
Day 15 is a cover version we love and that’s Oasis’ ‘My Generation’
Day 16 is a stone cold classic so we called in the big guns!! Elvis and ‘If I can dream’
Day 17 calls for a song we’d like to duet on karaoke so (and it has to be this version) - Iggy Pop and Debbie Harry ‘Well did you evah’
Day 18 is a song from my year of birth – Curtis Mayfield and ‘We are the people darker than blue’
Day 19 - songs that make you think a lot about life and that was The Clash and ‘Stay free’
Day 20 is a song that has a lot of different personal meanings so we went with Oasis’ ‘Rock n’ roll star’ for lots of different reasons!
Day 21 asks for a song with a person’s name in the title and although it’s obvious … ‘Lola’ by The Kinks
Day 22 - a song that moves you forward and we went with Quincy Jones and the ‘Self Preservation Society’
Day 23 asks for a song we think everyone should listen to and we answered with New Street Adventure’s ‘The Big AC’
Day 24 is for a song from a band we wish were still together which is The Housemartins and ‘We’re not deep’
Day 25 is a song by someone we still wish was alive and that just has to be The Small Faces and ‘Tin soldier’
Day 26 was a song that makes you want to fall in love so we went with The Beautiful South and ‘Let love speak up itself’
Day 27 is a song that breaks your heart and for me there could definitely be only one …. The Proclaimers’ ‘Sunshine on Leith’ ... though this is the heartbreaking version!
Day 28 asked for a song by someone who’s voice we love and that was Marvin Gaye and ‘How sweet it is (to be loved by you)’
Day 29 was a song we remember from cvhildhood so we chose the mighty Bay City Rollers’ ‘Shang-a-lang’
And finally …
… Day 30 was a song about that reminds you of yourself so we chose the one song we think embodies Tendandahalf’s business development training ethos, Arrested Development’s ‘Give a man a fish’
Well apart from wishing you the very merriest of Christmases and happiest and most prosperous of New Years!
